Perspective
As the high school season gets underway, so to is the college season. With our graduates and even myself playing some great disc, I wanted to point out two very well written articles on the new MSSUI ultimate website. Before you decide you’re better than this boys, know that both articles are about womens ultimate. The first highlights the new talent in the nation who have participated on the 2006 Junior World’s team, including Autumn.
The second is a great cry for there to be more support of womens ultimate. This isn’t to say anything negative of open ultimate, or even specifically the Churchill Open team. You boys are amazing and the history shows that it was because a few boys decided to play that there is even a team at Churchill, so the ladies should remember that. But, instead of us constantly battling each other, realize the greater truth that you all come from the same place. You all are one family. You all are the Churchill Ultimate team!
Anyways, here are the links to the two articles:

Welcome to Michael!
I am pleased to welcome Michael Wissig as our coach, new to our team this Spring. I’ll see what I can do to get a picture, but for now, you’ll just have to come to practice if you haven’t met him yet. He loves Ultimate, and is highly motivated to help our teams with practice structure, drills, scrimmages, and whatever comes his way. Please join me in giving him a great welcome to our team, and many thanks for his willingness to give of his time in this way. It should be a great Spring season!

Luke plays at GroundHog Days
The first tournament of the 2008 season is in the books for your old friend luke. It was a funky mixed indoor tournament where we took two teams (format was 4:1). The tournament started at 11pm and both teams were eliminated in the quarter-finals sometime around 5am. We made our way back from Cleveland, OH and slept the rest of the day.
I’m happy to be playing some college disc, but I miss you guys terribly. I look forward to hearing results of your first tournament and taking my time inbetween classes looking at photographs.
Always keep in mind why you play this game. Why you dedicate yourself to this sport. It will be different for everyone, but I would imagine the biggest piece will remain the friendships and family you’ve found through those you toss that 175grams with. And though I’m not there to cheer (and yell) from the sidelines, know that we will again see one another some day sooner rather than later.

Parent and Player meeting for Spring Ultimate
There will be a meeting for all parents and players on Wednesday, February 20th to talk about our spring season. We’ll meet in the CHS library at 7pm. This is mandatory for all who are planning to play Ultimate this spring, especially for those planning to go to Westerns, as we will be discussing travel plans, costs, and fundraising.
Questions: Call Kathy Smith at 915-6573 or Kris Bofto at 687-6991.
