Westerns Sunday
Churchill came back strong today, winning all three games with a good
margin, and earned the 9th spot in the tournament overall.
And we give a big congratulations to South Eugene for their
exceptional performance, finishing 2nd in the tournament!
Way to go Eugene youth ultimate!
Next up… Summer league… Details in the works. It’s time to share
the fun of ultimate with some new recruits.
Saturday recap
Minneapolis South proved to be tough competition, as we expected. They
got an early upwind break, and we had a tough time getting that back,
staying a point behind until our upwind break, bringing us to a 9-9
tie. In the end, Minneapolis South pulled out the win, with a final
score of 13-11.
Next we played Lakeside, and again fell behind early. Still struggling
with the winds, we ended with another loss, final score 12-8.
Ending pool play as the third in our pool, put us into a cross-over
game against Cathedral, a MN team. Our loss in this game was
frustrating, leaving us with a 9th place finish at best.
Tomorrow we start the road for that 9th place spot with our first game
at 8:30 am.
Churchill with a win in the first game, 13-8 over White Bear Lake.
Strong winds make upwind points difficult, but we managed to score
several.
Next up- minneapolis South. They came into the tournament seeded third
on our pool but just beat Lakeside in a huge upset.

Churchill Wins First Game

Churchill arrival in Minnesota
We arrived in Minneapolis safe and sound on schedule. We stopped by
the fields for a short warm-up, then on to a fabulous and fun team
dinner at Olive Garden. We are now settling in at the hotel, ready for
a good night’s sleep (after a few haircuts). The weather has been a
bit stormy, with rain and wind. Clear skies are predicted for
tomorrow, bit continued winds.
First game tomorrow is at 10:45.
End of Season Party
Details still to be determined, but Churchill Ultimate will have our
end of season party on Wednesday evening, May 20. Save the date!
